You want to remove your tape extensions and re-use them? No problem! As easy as you can apply tape extensions, you can remove them.
We put together some tips & tricks and explain how to do it.
Removing Tape Extensions
Tape extension strands have a double-sided adhesive strip at the top. A strand of your own hair is glued sandwich-like between two tape strands.
After about 4-8 weeks your own hair has grown so much that you have to remove the tape strands, re-tape them and apply them again. A hairstylist could do that for you, but you can also do it yourself with the help of a friend, whose help you will need particularly for the back of your head.
It's important to use a high quality tape remover fluid to not damage your own hair and to make sure to remove all residue of the old tapes.
How to do it step-by-step
Apply some drops of remover fluid from above between the adhesive strips
Massage the strips gently with your fingers and allow to absorb
Separate strips with a sectioning comb
Carefully pull the tape strand out of your own hair
If you meet resistance repeat the first 3 steps
Remove glue residue with some drops of remover fluid and comb
After removing all tape extension strands wash your hair carefully, use a good deep conditioner and give your hair some days of rest.
Re-using Tape Extensions
Now you want to re-tape your extensions. You will need scissors, tweezers, remover fluid and replacement tape. We recommend the long-lasting Walker Ultra Hold Tape for its unmatched quality.
How to do it step-by-step
Gently pull off old tapes
Use remover fluid to remove all residue of old tapes and allow to dry
Cut new tape to size if you use tape roll instead of pre-cut tapes
Place new tape onto strand and press down firmly
Be careful to not touch the adhesive surface
As you can see it's pretty easy to remove and re-tape your extensions. The re-taped extensions can now be applied to your hair as usual.
